Stefano Boccacci

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Stefano Boccacci began his piano studies at 9 years old. In 2010,
he began his professional training in Composition at the Pontifical Xavierian University, and
two years later began his Bachelor in Orchestra Conducting. In 2013, he created the Tutta
Forza Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble with the purpose of applying the chamber music
work into symphonic repertoire. In 2016, Tutta Forza Chamber Orchestra won the most
prestigious award for young musicians in Colombia, the Young Performers Award of the
Bank of the Republic, and were part of the series Colón Acústico, at the Teatro Colón of
Bogotá, under Boccacci’s baton. For 3 years, he collaborated as conductor of the Opera
Ensamble of the Pontifical Xavierian University, and with the Orquesta Sinfónica Javeriana
as assistant conductor.
He has taken Master classes with Patrick Fournillier, Johannes Wildner, Michael Lewanski
and Catherine Larsen-Maguire. He has developed a great interest in contemporary music
and has been working and stimulating the work of young Colombian composers,
commissioning and giving the premiers of many of their creations. As conductor, he has
been in music festivals like FEMUSC in Brazil, in 2015 and 2016. During 2015, he was the
music director of the Nashville Big Band, recording for Tigo Music that same year.
He will study his MMus in Orchestra Conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama, and is the most recent winner of the Bob Harding Bursary for Young Conductors
with the Havant Symphony Orchestra for the 2018/19 season.
