There were outstanding performances from BBC Young Musician finalist (piano) Adam Heron – complete with Chopin ‘encore’ – and young composer to watch Freya Ireland, who conducted the premiere of her specially commissioned work at RFDO 25th Anniversary Concert in Coleford’s Forest Theatre.

Guest conductor Glyn Oxley, who took RFDO under his wing for 11 years, returned to take up the baton for this significant event. Founder members Ros Taunton (leader) and Liz Pritchard (principal cellist) cut the anniversary cake.

Lord Lieutenant Dame Janet Trotter made it a very special night with chairman of the Forest of Dean District Council Councillor Marrylin Smart, Mayor of Coleford Councillor Nick Penny and Deputy Lord Lieutenant Roger Deeks.

Thanks to sponsors Foresters’ Forest and New Grove Trust.
