The Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra presents their winter concert ‘Northern Lights’ on the 14th December 2024.

The concert starts at 3pm

Performing at St Peters Church, Newnham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire GL14 1AE

Programme, including world premieres by three local composers:

Sibelius – Finlandia & The Swan of Tuonela
Michael English – Winter Suite for Orchestra
Jane Pelham – From Winter into Winter
Robin Davies – The Star
Rautavaara – Cantus Articus

We welcome soloist Caron de Burgh, playing cor anglais.

Summer Concert  – On the Nature of Daylight- a Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra concert on the 13th July 2024

Bill Anderton:  ‘La Folia’ – a new commission.

Max Richter: On The Nature Of Daylight

Mozart: Horn Concerto No. 3 in E flat Major KV 447 with our soloist Lydia Taylor.

Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C minor. Op. 67

Tickets at the door – £10  (free for children and for students in full time education and for Ukrainian guests).

Aaron Copland: Quiet City for Trumpet, English Horn and strings – Soloists: Anne Holder (English Horn) and Alan Holder (trumpet).

Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E minor. Op. 98

  • Gershwin: Summertime with Nadia Postolatii (soprano)
  • Song transcripts by Bernstein: Somewhere

Saturday 4th July 2026. Carmen at St, Mary’s Church Chepstow. Soloists from RWCMD and new libretto by Euan Tait.
